12x48 Plank Pavers: A Four-Foot Line in Porcelain
A 12x48 paver covers 4 sq ft in a one-by-four-foot plank, so 25 pieces make 100 sq ft and a pallet of 72 pieces covers about 283 sq ft, the largest coverage per pallet of any size here. The 4:1 proportion is the point: laid in a running bond with a one-third offset it reads as decking, and laid in a stack bond it draws long lines down a walkway or along a pool. It is the format to use when a 24x48 slab would feel heavy and a 12x24 would chop the run into short pieces.
Porcelain at 3/4 inch
We stock 12x48 in 3/4" (20 mm) through-body porcelain with a travertine visual. Rectified edges give a tight joint, the face is matte and slip-rated for wet areas, and the body is frost-proof and never needs sealing. It installs on a compacted gravel or sand base, on pedestals for a rooftop or over a slab, or on a mortar bed. Long planks need a flat base more than any other size: a high spot under the middle of a 4-foot piece will rock it, so screed carefully and check each plank with a straightedge. For the natural-stone plank look in travertine, marble or limestone, see 18x36 and 24x48.
Not sure which size fits the project? The paver size guide compares every format from 6x12 to 36x36: square feet per piece, pieces per pallet, weight, and which size suits a pool deck, patio, walkway or driveway.
Frequently asked questions
How many 12x48 pavers are in 100 square feet?
25, because each plank covers 4 square feet. A pallet of 72 pieces covers about 283 square feet.
Are 12x48 pavers porcelain or natural stone?
Our 12x48 is 3/4 inch through-body porcelain with a travertine look. Natural stone plank formats are 18x36 and 24x48, cut at 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch.
What is the best layout for 12x48 plank pavers?
A running bond with a one-third offset for a decking look, or a stack bond for straight lines along a walkway or pool edge. Avoid a half offset on long planks, which can look like a brick wall.
