Cladding walls with slab stone and ledger panels
This collection groups the pieces that go on a wall face rather than underfoot. Most of it is the same 24x72 by 2" slab sold as a wall cap and as 24x72 coping; used vertically it faces a raised spa wall, a water feature, a fireplace surround or an outdoor kitchen base. One product is different: a 6x24 Ibiza White splitface ledger panel, which is the choice when you want a stacked, textured look instead of a flat slab.
Slab cladding with 24x72 pieces
A raised spa wall is typically 12" to 24" tall. A 24x72 slab set on edge covers a full 24" height in one piece, so a 12-foot spa wall needs two slabs and one joint. For shorter walls, rip the slab to height and use the factory eased edge along the top. Because the pieces are 2" thick, they need a mechanical anchor or a full mortar bed plus a proper ledger support at the base, not just thin-set on a vertical surface. Colors follow the marble and travertine lines: Ibiza White, Corsica Cream, Bursa White, Ice White, Tundra Grey, Diane Royal and Ocean Blue in marble; Ivory, Walnut, Noce, Silver, Silver Alaska, Silver River and Country Classic in travertine.
Ledger panels for stacked-stone walls
The 6x24 splitface ledger panel is assembled from strips of stone with a natural cleft face, made to stack in a running bond with tight joints. It is lighter and faster to install than slab stone and works over CMU, concrete or a cement-board substrate with a polymer-modified mortar. Use it on a fire pit wall, a pool waterfall weir, or a raised-bed face where you want shadow lines. Match it to Ibiza White pool coping or pavers for a coordinated pool build.
Planning the order
Measure wall area in square feet; each 24x72 slab covers 12 square feet, each 6x24 panel covers one. Add 10 percent for cuts. Both ship on pallets by LTL freight, and the quarry-direct sourcing guide explains how to combine a cladding order with coping and pavers on one shipment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use 2" slabs on a vertical wall?
Yes, but treat them as a structural veneer, not a tile. Set them on a solid ledger or footing, bed them in mortar, and use mechanical anchors or a wire-tied backup for anything above waist height. Thin-set alone will not hold a 2" slab on a wall.
What is the difference between a ledger panel and a slab?
A ledger panel is a 6x24 assembly of narrow stone strips with a split, textured face, meant to stack for a dry-stack look. A slab is a single flat 24x72 piece with a sandblasted or leather face. Ledger goes on fast and is lighter; slab gives a clean, monolithic surface.
Do these need to be sealed on a wall?
Wall surfaces get less abuse than floors, but on a spa wall or water feature where stone is constantly wet, sealing helps limit mineral staining and efflorescence. Use a breathable penetrating sealer so moisture in the wall can still escape.
How do I match cladding to my pool coping and pavers?
Order from the same color name across all three. Ibiza White, for example, is available as a ledger panel, a 24x72 slab, pool coping and pavers. Finishes differ by product, so request samples if you want to compare a split face next to a leather face.
