Four stone and porcelain tiles for indoor and covered floors
Most of the store is outdoor paver and coping stock, so this collection is short on purpose: four tiles in honed, brushed and matte finishes intended for interior floors, screened porches, covered lanais and other spaces where a tumbled or leather paver is heavier and rougher than needed. Each is the tile cut of a stone we also sell as an outdoor paver, so an indoor floor can run in the same color as the pool deck outside.
What each tile is for
The honed Ibiza White marble tile is a bright, even white with a smooth matte face; use it for a bathroom, kitchen or an indoor-outdoor transition that continues Ibiza White marble pavers onto a covered floor. The honed 18x18 Walnut travertine tile has the same brown banding as tumbled Walnut pavers but with a flat, filled face; it suits a foyer or a screened porch, and the screened porch guide covers how to pair it with the outdoor stone. The brushed White Shellstone limestone tile is a soft off-white with visible fossil shell fragments and a light texture, good for a sunroom or a covered outdoor kitchen floor. The White Infinity porcelain tile in 24x48 is matte and rectified, and is the pick where sealing is not wanted at all.
Honed stone indoors
Honed marble and travertine are smoother than the leather and tumbled finishes used on the outdoor pavers, so they are not intended for the wet deck directly around a pool. Indoors and under a roof they are easy to clean and pleasant barefoot. Seal both after grouting and use pH-neutral cleaners; the sealing explainer applies to the honed tiles as much as the pavers. Order samples first if you are matching an existing outdoor paver, since a honed face reads a shade lighter than the same stone tumbled.
Frequently asked questions
Can these tiles be used outdoors?
Under a roof, yes: a screened porch, a covered lanai or an outdoor kitchen floor. The honed marble and travertine are too smooth for the open pool deck. The porcelain and brushed limestone tolerate weather better, but for an exposed deck use the outdoor paver collections instead.
Will the Walnut tile match Walnut travertine pavers?
It is the same stone, so the color and banding match, but the honed tile has a flat, filled face while the pavers are tumbled with rounded edges and open pores. Expect the tile to read slightly lighter and cleaner. Ordering a sample of each is the safest way to compare.
Do honed marble tiles need sealing?
Yes. Honed marble is more absorbent than polished, so seal it after installation with a penetrating sealer and reseal when water no longer beads. Wipe up acidic spills such as citrus or wine promptly, since they can etch the surface even when sealed.
How is tile sold and shipped?
By the pallet, like the rest of the store, with square footage per pallet listed on each product page. Pallets ship curbside by LTL freight with a liftgate in about 7 to 10 business days. For a small area, request a quote and we can confirm the minimum quantity available.
