Paver 24x36

Seventeen 24x36 pavers cover 100 sq ft. That low count is the appeal: on a rectangular pool deck the joints thin out to a few long lines and the stone does the talking. This is the format that pairs with 24x36 pool coping piece for piece, so a deck laid in stack bond with the 36" side parallel to the pool ends in a coping course with the same joints. It also suits wide entry paths and outdoor kitchen floors where one slab sits under an island.

Layouts and what to watch for

Stack bond and a half-offset running bond are the two layouts that make sense; herringbone is wasted on a piece this large. A 24x36 in 2" natural stone is heavy enough that the crew should lift it in pairs and set it with a suction cup or slab clamp, and the base has to be screeded flat because a 3-foot slab will not conform to a low spot. The 3/4" porcelain version is much lighter and is the one to use on pedestals or a rooftop.

Materials in this size

Marble dominates the collection, in leather and sandblasted finishes that stay grippy around water. Bursa White in 24x36 gives a bright, low-variation deck; tumbled travertine gives the opposite, a warm surface with visible pitting.
