Silver / Gray

This family splits almost cleanly into two products. Forty of the 56 items are Silver travertine, a tumbled gray stone with lighter veining that is the go-to for a cool-toned pool deck. Sixteen are gray porcelain pavers in concrete, limestone, sandstone and terrazzo looks (Presidio Silver, Aspen Gray, Saratoga Gray, Savannah Gray and others). Silver travertine

Silver is a true gray travertine, not a dyed or stained stone, with bands that run from light silver to charcoal across a pallet. It comes tumbled, which rounds the edges and gives a matte, slip-resistant face. Pavers are cut 1-1/4" and 2" in 24x24 (the most common size here), 16x24, 12x24, 6x12, 24x36 and 24x48; coping is offered in bullnose, eased edge and remodel, mostly 12x24, 14x24 and 6x12. Gray porcelain pavers

The porcelain options are 3/4" (20 mm) rectified, through-body pieces with a matte face, almost all in 24x24. They do not need sealing, will not stain from leaves or rust, and are frost-proof, which makes them the right answer for a gray look in a hard-freeze climate or a rooftop pedestal deck. The trade-off is a more uniform surface and a repeating pattern across pieces; read the porcelain paver buyer's guide before deciding.

Putting a gray deck together

For a gray pool deck in natural stone, pair Silver travertine 24x24 pavers with Silver bullnose coping in 12x24. For a modern patio, gray porcelain 24x24 with tight joints and a marble or Silver coping at the pool edge works well. Note that a marble blue-gray like Ocean Blue is a separate family and is not included here.
