36x36 Pavers: Nine Square Feet in a Single Square
Eleven 36x36 pavers cover about 100 sq ft. Nothing else in the range covers ground this fast, and nothing else makes a patio look as quiet: a 3-foot square in stack bond leaves a grid of lines on 36" centers and very little else. Every piece in the collection is 1-1/4", which keeps the weight manageable for a slab this size, but it is still a two-person set and it belongs on foot-traffic surfaces only, never a driveway.
Where a 3-foot square fits
The main use is a modern pool deck or terrace laid in stack bond, often with a wide joint filled with polymeric sand or turf strips. The second use is oversized stepping slabs across gravel or lawn, where one piece is a whole landing. Because 36 is not a multiple of 24, do not plan to mix this with 24x24 or 24x48 in the same field; if you want a modular large-format layout, the 24x36 and 18x36 pavers share the 36" dimension and combine cleanly with it.
Coping, materials and setting
There is no 36x36 coping. 24x36 pool coping laid with its 36" side along the water lines up with every deck joint, which is the pairing most installers use. The collection is mostly marble in leather and sandblasted finishes, with Corsica Cream a frequent pick for a warm, low-contrast deck, plus tumbled travertine and limestone. Screed the base dead flat, back-butter on mortar beds, and cut with a large wet saw. Freight for slab orders is explained in the LTL delivery guide.
Frequently asked questions
How many 36x36 pavers cover 100 square feet?
About 11, because each one is 9 square feet. Since one damaged slab is nearly a tenth of that area, order 10 to 15 percent extra. Check the pallet quantity and weight on the product page; pallets of this size are dense and the drop point needs a firm surface.
Is 36x36 available in 2 inch thickness?
No. Everything in this collection is 1-1/4 inch. That is by design; a 2 inch 36x36 slab would be very difficult to handle on site. Use 36x36 for patios, pool decks and stepping slabs on a full bedding layer, and pick a smaller format in 2 inch for vehicle areas.
What coping works with 36x36 pavers?
24x36 pool coping. Set with the 36 inch edge along the pool, its joints match the 36 inch deck grid exactly. Order the coping in the same stone and finish as the pavers, in bullnose or eased edge, so the deck reads as one material from the water outward.
